Dogs start digging holes just for fun but they also do so when suffering from anxiety. Dogs also do this in case they want to express something that they directly can’t.

Jimmy – when I shifted my house to another city with
my family and dog. In the garden of the house he started
digging holes whole the day when we restrict them

To leave the area –
one thing which is minutely noted
that somehow dogs started digging holes because they
want to leave the place of their living and want to shift
from it to anywhere else. Thus this gesture of them is
presented by the activity of digging holes. This is the
prominent reason why your dog is doing this. Mostly
when you shift his house anywhere else or you shift
somewhere else and take him to new place .so to restrain
from living there he starts doing such things.

Sense of Anxiety –
Sometimes your dog might be upset,
suffering from any kind of anxious issues, or any
depressive symptoms also provoke him to do such
activities so that he might feel relief or you get to know
about it and help him to best. This can happen if your dog
is missing your company, or his any favourite essential
got misplaced or broken etc. So all such moments can
make him anxious and he will perform these things
because of it.

Due to deep hearing sensations –
Dogs posses greater hearing capacity. As they have bigger
sound frequency hearing capability. So he might dig
holes because of certain sounds hearing from the ground or
any land area. For example if his house is placed in the
area of garden of your house he may have heard sounds
of buzzing or any other sounds unfamiliar so he wants to
know about that sound why it is so ?who is doing it ? Etc.

mostly dogs do such kind of things as
they want some relief or are escaping from any
discomfort zones. For example in summer season when
dogs want to escape from heating stroke of sun they do
digging of holes to get relief from scorching heat because
they like to stay in sandy area as it provides coolness to
their skin and fur .

Female dogs do it in pregnancy conditions –
The most
superior reason especially found in female dogs utmost
thus reason for digging holes. They do so in order to make
a place for their babies. As they want to fetch up place to
give birth and feed them in holes to nurture them and take
care of them

Lack of nutritional content in the meal –
when your dog’s
meal is lacking sufficient nutrients, vitamins in his food
he starts doing this task of digging as this will add up
sand and soil which they starts eating due to lack of
nutrients value in his body which insists him to eat these
irrelevant things because of deficiency faced by his body.
Digging holes makes your area very messy as it will
brings in sand, soil, dirt, stones etc. and these littered
materials brings instability and cause the entrance of
germs and infections in your house which bring bad
health to you and your loved ones . So cleaning and
stoppage of this activity is must .

Guide him properly –
To avoid him from digging or to
let him do digging in case of relief from heat scorch
reasons to train him do digging at suitable places rather
than everywhere. So proper training will help you
achieve this target.

in order to distract them
from activity of digging holes try to bring in variations,
give them different things, toys, do different activities
with him so that will help you to forget him all digging.

Proper exercising –
proper exercises and workout
sessions will help to curb his this activity. If he is
involved in different things and activities, play different
games, go out for various walking , playing with his
fellow dogs will relieve his escaping stress.

Get rid of his anxiety and fear –
– if you suspect that
your dog is doing these activities because of his anxious
and scary nature then try to give and provide him relief
measures to solve his anxiety and to get rid of it which
ultimately makes him happy and fearfree .

Proper food intake –
– if you think your dog is suffering
from any deficiency then it is the cause of lack of
nutritional value in their meals which needs to be filled
and completed thereof. Thus provide them complete
nutrients filled food to avoid it.
